A school bus carrying high school students from Bello, near Medellin, in Colombia had a very bad accident.

The bus was returning from a graduation trip to the Caribbean beach towns of Tolu and Covenas when it fell off a cliff.

Sadly, 17 people, including 16 students and the driver, died, and 20 others were hurt.

The governor of the area and the president of Colombia shared their condolences.

The accident happened in an area where a rebel group called the ELN operates, which made the rescue operations more difficult.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
