30 Bengal Schoolgirls Fall Ill; Ghost Claims Spark Panic
A school in a small town in West Bengal had about 30 girls get sick during class.
They had trouble breathing, their muscles twitched, and they moved oddly.
The teachers took them to a health centre and then to a hospital.
Some people in the town thought a ghost was causing the sickness, but doctors said the girls were just sick and most are getting better.
The doctors and the local MLA are looking into why it happened.
Around 30 ninth‑grade girls at Fulmoni Adarsha Vidyamandir fell ill during school hours with breathing difficulties, muscle cramps and unusual movements.
Students were first taken to a local health centre, then to Minakha Rural Hospital for treatment.
Local MLA Sanat Sardar and health officials, including Dr. Shyamal Kumar Biswas, visited the school and examined the students.
Many students have recovered after preliminary treatment, but authorities are investigating the cause.
Some locals attribute the episodes to alleged ghost possession, while officials urge a scientific and medical investigation.
