NIPUN Bharat Expands Foundational Learning From Balvatika Through Grade 2
NIPUN Bharat is a government program to help young children learn to read, understand, and use numbers.
It began on July 5, 2021.
The program starts before Grade 1 in Balvatika and continues through Grade 2.
Children learn through games, activities, books, and other learning materials.
Jadui Pitara is a collection of play-based materials for children aged 3 to 8.
The e-JaduiPitara app and website share similar learning resources digitally.
Teachers use learning-focused materials and competency-based assessments.
Parents and communities are encouraged to help children learn.
The Ministry of Education says the program is also supporting stronger Grade 3 learning outcomes.
The Ministry of Education launched NIPUN Bharat Mission on July 5, 2021.
The mission aims for every child to achieve foundational literacy and numeracy by the end of Grade 2.
Its foundational stage covers three years of Balvatika followed by Grades 1 and 2.
Resources include Vidya Pravesh, Jadui Pitara, e-JaduiPitara, textbooks, primers, and competency-based assessments.
The ministry said continued foundational learning efforts are improving Grade 3 outcomes, citing PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024.
