Tukaram Mundhe Crackdown Makes Celebrities Wary of Junk Food Ads

Tukaram Mundhe Crackdown Makes Celebrities Wary of Junk Food Ads

Maharashtra’s food regulator has questioned three famous actors about an advertisement for Vimal Elaichi.

The regulator says the advertisement might indirectly promote pan masala, which is banned in Maharashtra.

Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff were asked to explain their roles.

The notices were issued on August 11, and they had 15 days to reply.

At a later press meeting, the regulator said it had not received their responses.

The regulator also warned that celebrities can be punished for misleading food advertisements.

At the same time, people online have criticized stars who promote unhealthy foods while talking about healthy lifestyles.

Because of these concerns, some actors may think more carefully before accepting similar advertisements.

It is not yet clear whether this will change celebrity advertising across the industry.
