Trump Seeks China’s Help for Crushing Economic Pressure on Iran

The United States wants to put much stronger economic pressure on Iran.

President Donald Trump warned that countries helping Iran could also face serious penalties.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent asked China to join this effort.

China buys much of its energy from Gulf countries and is also Iran’s biggest oil customer.

China said sanctions are not a good way to solve the problem.

Iran rejected the threats and said they attack countries’ independence.

The Strait of Hormuz is closed, making it harder for oil and gas to move around the world.

This disruption could raise energy prices and increase inflation.
