India's E20 Petrol Shift Changes New Car Buying Decisions

India's E20 Petrol Shift Changes New Car Buying Decisions

Cars need special fuel to run.

In India, the government has changed the kind of petrol that is sold.

Now, almost all petrol stations only sell a fuel called E20.

E20 is a mix of petrol and ethanol.

Ethanol is a kind of alcohol that can be made from plants.

The number in the name tells you the mix: E20 has 20 percent ethanol and 80 percent petrol.

Before, drivers could choose other blends like E10 or pure petrol, but those are not sold at regular pumps anymore.

This means people who want to buy a new car must check that the car can run on E20.

Cars that are not built for E20 might not work well with this fuel.

So checking E20 compatibility is now an important step before buying a car.
