Police Conduct Flag March in Haldwani Ahead of SC Verdict
The police in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, marched through the streets on December 9, 2023, to keep the area peaceful and safe.
This was because the Supreme Court was expected to announce its decision the next day about some families who have built homes on railway land.
The High Court had already said these homes should be removed, but some people challenged that decision.
The police want to make sure everyone follows the law and that there is no trouble.
They have also increased their presence in the area to watch for any suspicious activity.
Police conducted a flag march in Haldwani on December 9, 2023, to maintain peace ahead of the Supreme Court's verdict on the Banbhulpura railway land encroachment case.
The march passed through several areas, including the railway station, Dholak Basti, and concluded at the Banbhulpura police station.
4,365 families, mostly Muslim, have encroached upon 29 hectares of railway land in Banbhulpura.
The Uttarakhand High Court ordered the removal of encroachments in December 2022, which was challenged in the Supreme Court.
Police have strengthened their presence and are vigilant about outsiders and suspicious persons in the area.
