Karnataka HC Seeks Government Response on Alleged Unequal Fund Allocation
A politician in Karnataka has asked the court for help because he believes the government is not sharing money fairly.
He says that areas represented by politicians from the ruling party are getting more money for development than areas represented by politicians from other parties.
The government announced a big plan to spend money on improving places, and the politician claims his area, and others like it, only get half the money compared to areas with politicians from the ruling party.
This is like saying some kids get two cookies, while others get only one, just because of who their teacher is.
The politician believes this is unfair and breaks the rule that everyone should be treated equally.
The court has asked the government to explain why this is happening.
Karnataka High Court has issued a notice to the State government regarding a petition alleging unequal fund allocation.
The petition was filed by BJP MLA Jagadeesh Shivayya Gudagunti, claiming opposition constituencies receive less funding than ruling party constituencies under the CMIDP.
Under the ₹8,000 crore CMIDP, opposition constituencies allegedly received ₹25 crore each, while ruling party constituencies received ₹50 crore.
The petition argues this unequal distribution violates Article 14 of the Constitution, guaranteeing the right to equality.
The court has asked the government to respond and adjourned the hearing to January 21, 2026.
