Congress MP questions DMK's stance on delimitation
Congress MP Karti Chidambaram is questioning why the DMK party has changed its position on the Delimitation Bill, which is about redrawing the boundaries of parliamentary constituencies.
He thinks the DMK might be influenced by the idea of 'One Nation One Election' and that this could hurt their chances in the next elections.
Chidambaram also believes that increasing the number of seats in the Lok Sabha (India's lower house of Parliament) would make debates less effective.
Additionally, he argues that the trust managing the Ram Mandir should be open to public scrutiny, including audits and discussions in Parliament, because it involves public money.
These remarks were made as Parliament began its Monsoon Session, with opposition parties demanding discussions on issues like the alleged embezzlement of Ram Mandir donations and the NEET-UG paper leak.
Congress MP Karti Chidambaram questions the DMK's shift in position on the Delimitation Bill.
Chidambaram suggests the DMK may be influenced by the 'One Nation One Election' proposal.
He argues that increasing Lok Sabha seats would widen the gap between northern and southern states in Parliament.
Chidambaram believes a larger Lok Sabha would reduce the effectiveness of parliamentary debates.
He advocates for public scrutiny of the Ram Mandir trust, including CAG audits and parliamentary discussions.
