Farmers Protest Demand 100% MSP Moong Procurement
Farmers in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh are upset because they can’t sell all their moong beans at the government‑set price.
They have to wait a long time at government centers, and many have to sell their beans in the open market for much less money.
The farmers have gathered in the city of Bhopal and are asking the government to buy all their beans at the promised price and to stop using a complicated e‑token system.
A local political group, the Cockroach Janata Party, has joined the protest and is supporting the farmers.
The farmers say that because of the delays and low prices, they are losing money and are worried about their crops getting damaged while they wait.
Farmers in Madhya Pradesh are agitating for 100% procurement of summer moong at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Delays in grading, e‑token issuance, and limited storage are forcing farmers to wait days and sell at lower market prices.
Only about 25% of moong is being purchased at MSP, with open‑market prices around Rs 6,000 per quintal versus MSP Rs 8,682.
Protesters have camped near Narmadapuram Road and Veer Savarkar Setu in Bhopal, demanding removal of the e‑token system.
The Cockroach Janata Party’s founder Abhijeet Dipke has publicly supported the farmers and urged the government to meet their demands.
