SFIO Probes IndusInd Bank Accounting Discrepancies
IndusInd Bank, a bank owned by the Hinduja family, has some problems with its accounting.
The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) is looking into these issues.
The bank found mistakes in how it recorded certain financial transactions, especially in its derivatives and microfinance businesses.
These mistakes led to a big loss for the bank.
The bank reported these issues to the SFIO and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) because the rules say they have to.
The Mumbai Police is also looking into it but hasn't found any evidence of money being stolen.
The bank had to correct its accounts and write off a lot of money that was incorrectly recorded as profit.
This all happened because the bank didn't follow the correct accounting rules for several years.
SFIO is investigating IndusInd Bank for accounting discrepancies identified in its derivatives and microfinance businesses.
The bank reported the issues to SFIO and RBI as per regulatory guidelines for fraud involving Rs 1 crore or more.
IndusInd Bank reported a net loss of Rs 2,329 crore in Q4FY25 due to accounting discrepancies.
The bank had to write off Rs 1,959.98 crore of accumulated notional profit in FY25.
Mumbai Police's Economic Offences Wing found no evidence of fund siphoning or diversion.
