North Dinajpur Man Remanded; Four Rohingya Arrested at NJP

Police in West Bengal arrested Fazle Rabbi because they suspect he was connected to Pakistan’s ISI intelligence agency.

A court ordered that he stay in police custody for seven days.

The case concerns allegations that Indian SIM cards were sent to Pakistan through Bangladesh.

Police had already arrested three other people in connection with the case.

In a separate action, railway police arrested four Rohingya people at New Jalpaiguri station.

The group included two women.

They had reportedly lived in a refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, since 2017.

Police said they entered India on August 19 and were traveling on a train to Kanyakumari.

Officials said they may be taken to a holding centre for people who entered India without authorization.
