Warring Questions 7.8% GDP Growth, Seeks Relief for Indians

India’s economy grew by 7.8% during the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said this was especially impressive because the world was facing disruptions and conflicts.

Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said the number did not show how ordinary families were doing.

He said many people were still dealing with expensive goods and not enough jobs.

Warring asked why people were being told to spend carefully if the economy was performing so well.

He said GDP growth should help families afford more in their everyday lives.

He especially called for lower prices for petrol, diesel and cooking gas.

The disagreement is about whether a strong national growth rate is also improving people’s household finances.
