President’s Rule in Manipur Extended by Six Months
Imagine Manipur is like a state in a country that's having big problems, like people not agreeing and things getting unsafe.
Because things are unstable, the country's leader decided to take over the state's control for a while.
The leader will now make the important decisions for the state instead of the usual leaders.
This is to help fix the problems and keep everyone safe.
The leaders will decide how long they'll be in charge, possibly until new elections happen.
Amit Shah moved a resolution to extend President's rule in Manipur.
The extension is for six months, starting from August 13, 2025, until February 13, 2026.
President's rule in Manipur was initially imposed on February 13, after N. Biren Singh resigned.
The decision was made under Article 356 of the Constitution, due to instability and unrest.
Central government will oversee governance, with Parliament assuming legislative powers.
