UP Agriculture Council Seeks Evidence-Based Interventions
The Uttar Pradesh State Agriculture Council (UPSAC) had its first meeting after being reformed.
They talked about important things like better seeds, using water wisely, keeping soil healthy, and making more money from crops.
They want the government to use proven ideas in different areas to help farmers do better.
The leader, Ghanshyam Khandelwal, hopes UPSAC will help bring together the government, businesses, and scientists to make farming more successful and sustainable.
Another important person, Sanjay Singh, agreed and said these ideas should be shared with the government to help farmers earn more and be more resilient.
UPSAC held its first board meeting after reconstitution in September 2025.
Key focus areas include seed quality, water-use efficiency, soil health, and post-harvest management.
UPSAC aims to be a policy think tank and a convergence platform for government, industry, and academia.
Ghanshyam Khandelwal emphasized unlocking opportunities and driving growth through sustainability.
Sanjay Singh recommended area-specific, evidence-based interventions to improve farmer success rates.
