India Expands Urban Transport Infrastructure
The central government has approved big plans to improve public transport in many Indian cities.
They want to expand metro services in Lucknow, Kanpur, and Agra up to the year 2047.
This plan aims to create better public transport systems that grow with the cities.
The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) will work with local authorities to make sure the new metro lines connect well with future housing, business, and industrial areas.
They will also study which types of transit systems would work best.
At the same time, Indian Railways plans to double the number of trains that can start from 48 big cities by 2030.
This includes adding more platforms, parking spaces for trains, and maintenance facilities.
Both plans will help manage traffic, reduce pollution, and make the cities more efficient and sustainable.
The central government approved a long-term metro expansion plan for Lucknow, Kanpur, and Agra up to 2047.
Indian Railways plans to double originating train capacity in 48 major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, by 2030.
Metro corridors and railway terminals will be expanded in phases, coordinated with future urban development plans.
UPMRC and Indian Railways will prepare reports to decide suitable transit systems and infrastructure upgrades.
Experts believe these plans will improve traffic management, reduce pollution, and boost economic efficiency.
