Mumbai Local Delays: AC Trains and Technical Issues
Mumbai's local trains are often delayed because of several reasons.
One big reason is the new air-conditioned (AC) trains.
These trains have automatic doors that sometimes take longer to open and close, causing delays.
When one train is late, it makes all the other trains late too.
This happens because the trains run very close to each other in time.
Also, when too many people try to get on or off the AC trains at once, the doors can get stuck or not close properly.
This makes the problem even worse.
Railway officials are working to fix these issues to make the trains run on time and keep passengers safe.
Mumbai's suburban railway network experiences frequent delays due to technical failures, level crossing gate operations, accidents, and long-distance train delays.
AC local trains are a major cause of delays because their automatic doors take longer to open and close, disrupting the tight schedules.
Technical glitches and overcrowding in AC trains lead to doors not opening or closing properly, causing further delays and inconvenience.
Western Railway's punctuality has declined from 95.34% to 95.07% due to operational issues involving AC local trains.
Passenger safety is a concern as partially opened doors and overcrowding increase the risk of accidents and altercations.
