CBI Books Mumbai Port Officials in $6,000 Bribery Case
Imagine a ship in Mumbai wanted to leave, but a port official said it couldn't unless they paid a bribe.
This is what the CBI is investigating.
A port official, after injuring his ankle while helping the ship, allegedly demanded $6,000 from the ship's agent.
The money was then sent to his relative.
Because of this, the ship was delayed for a couple of days.
Now, the CBI is looking into the case, trying to figure out why the ship's departure was delayed and who was involved in the alleged bribery.
CBI registered an FIR against Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) officials and a marine services company.
The case involves alleged bribery of $6,000 for delaying a vessel's clearance.
The delay occurred after a pilot, AS Pal, was injured while disembarking the vessel.
The bribe was demanded by Pal and transferred to a relative's account.
The vessel was cleared to sail after an undertaking from the master and company.
