Maharashtra CM Office to Move to Air India Building
The Maharashtra government is moving the Chief Minister’s office from the old Mantralaya building to a famous tower called the Air India building in Mumbai.
They bought the tower for about 1,601 crore rupees and are fixing it up so it can be used as a big government office.
The top floor will be the CM’s office and the floor below will be a meeting hall for the cabinet.
This move will bring many government departments that are currently in rented offices into one place, saving the state about 200 crore rupees each year on rent.
The Public Works Minister said the new office will be modern, safe, and friendly for people who visit.
The building is ready to open in a few months, and it will also have parking for cars.
The plan is part of a bigger effort to make the state’s administration more efficient and less expensive.
The government hopes the new office will look nice and reflect Maharashtra’s culture.
The move is expected to help the state use its money better and serve citizens better.
Maharashtra government plans to relocate CM Devendra Fadnavis’s office from Mantralaya to the Air India building at Nariman Point.
The 23‑storey building was purchased for Rs 1,601 crore and is undergoing renovation expected to finish in 3‑4 months.
The CM office will occupy the 23rd floor (5,611 sq ft) and a 13,363‑sq‑ft Cabinet Hall will be on the 22nd floor.
The move aims to consolidate departments and save roughly Rs 200 crore annually in rental expenses.
Public Works Minister Shivendrasinh Bhosale emphasized quality, sustainability, citizen convenience, and a heritage‑inspired redesign.
