Bengaluru to Shift 8,500 Seized Vehicles From Police Stations
Thousands of vehicles taken by police have been sitting near police stations in Bengaluru for years.
Many cannot be thrown away because the court cases connected to them are not finished.
The vehicles have taken up space and blocked some footpaths and roads.
People have asked for them to be moved or legally disposed of.
The Revenue Department has found several places to store them.
The Police Department will prepare these sites with machinery and fencing.
Police will then decide where each vehicle should go.
Officials expect the move to be completed within 15–20 days after the sites are ready.
About 8,500 seized two-, three- and four-wheelers have remained for years in and around Bengaluru police stations.
The vehicles are linked to cases still pending before courts and could not previously be disposed of.
They have occupied police-station premises, footpaths and roads, obstructing pedestrian and vehicle movement.
The Revenue Department has identified multiple locations where the vehicles can be parked.
The vehicles are expected to be relocated within 15–20 days once the sites are prepared.
