Mehbooba Mufti Seeks Transfer of J&K Undertrials
Mehbooba Mufti, leader of the PDP party, has asked the J&K High Court to help bring people from Jammu and Kashmir who are in jail outside of J&K, back to local prisons.
She wants the government to pay for one family member to travel each month to visit these prisoners.
This would make it easier for families to see their loved ones and is the basis of her petition.
Mufti believes that by returning the prisoners to local jails, it will improve their access to families.
Mehbooba Mufti filed a petition in the J&K High Court.
The petition requests the transfer of undertrial prisoners from other states to J&K.
The petition also seeks travel reimbursement for family visits.
The petition was filed by the president of PDP.
The petition is related to UT undertrials held outside of J&K.
