GST Council to Meet Soon, Discussing Tax Simplification
The GST Council, which includes the Union Finance Minister and state representatives, is planning a meeting.
They will talk about making the Goods and Services Tax (GST) easier by simplifying tax rates.
They'll also decide what to do with a special tax called the compensation cess.
This tax was used to help states and the council is deciding if it should be used, or shared between the Centre and states, in the future.
GST Council to meet soon to discuss tax simplification and rate rationalisation.
The meeting will also address the future of the compensation cess.
The GST Council is chaired by the Union Finance Minister and includes state representatives.
Two GoMs are yet to submit their final report on rate rationalisation.
The GoM on Compensation Cess is reviewing the cess beyond March 2026.
