Assam Government Dismisses Professor Over ₹8,000 Post-Mortem Bribe

Dr. Manoj Kumar Baishya worked as a medical teacher and forensic doctor in Assam.

In 2019, officials said he accepted ₹8,000 to issue a post-mortem report.

Anti-corruption officers caught and arrested him at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital.

He was later suspended and transferred to another medical college.

The government started a disciplinary inquiry against him.

An inquiry officer found that the bribery charge was proved.

Dr. Baishya said the trap was unfair and pointed to conflicting statements.

The Assam government rejected his explanation and dismissed him from service.
