Hyderabad Students Excel at BRICS Event
Students from a government school in Hyderabad presented their research project at a big international event called BRICS.
They studied how cities are affecting the lakes and water bodies in Hyderabad using special technology.
They found that many lakes have disappeared or are not connected anymore because of city growth.
They shared their findings with scientists and got a certificate for their great work.
Their project shows how important it is to protect our water sources and how kids can use technology to help the environment.
Students from Government Boys’ High School, Trimulgherry, Hyderabad presented a geospatial research project at the BRICS International Event at IIT Tirupati.
The project, titled 'Reconnecting Hyderabad Cheruvulu,' focused on the impact of urbanization on Hyderabad's water bodies.
The students used modern geospatial technologies like Epicollect5, Google Earth Pro, and QGIS to study 30 historic water bodies.
They found that rapid urbanization has led to the shrinking of lake extents, disrupted channels, and the disappearance of ECIL Lake.
The students received an Appreciation Certificate from the Director of IIT Tirupati for their outstanding research presentation.
