Delhi High Court Rejects Challenge to C-DOT Emergency Alert Deal

Delhi High Court Rejects Challenge to C-DOT Emergency Alert Deal

India is building a system that can send emergency warnings to many phones in one area at the same time.

The government chose a state-owned organization called C-DOT to run the system.

A German company called Utimaco said the government should have held a public competition before making that choice.

Utimaco also said both companies had taken part in earlier tests.

The government said the system is important for national safety and should not be handed to a private company.

The Delhi High Court rejected Utimaco’s challenge.

The judge said the petition was dismissed with some observations, but the detailed reasons were not yet available.

Utimaco said it respected the decision but believed it did not fairly reflect its position.
