Maharashtra Cabinet Approves Gallantry Medal for Courageous Police Personnel
Maharashtra has created a new award for police officers and staff who show exceptional courage while doing their jobs.
The state Cabinet approved the award.
Each recipient will get a medal, a written citation and ₹50,000.
The awards will be announced every year on April 30.
There is no set number of medals to give each year.
Police units will put forward nominations based on reports of brave actions.
Police and government committees will review the nominations before senior leaders make the final decision.
The award can also be given to someone who died while carrying out a courageous act.
