Cyclospora Outbreak in US: 11,500+ Cases, Two Deaths Reported

Many people in the United States have gotten sick from a tiny germ called Cyclospora.

Health officials have counted more than 11,500 people who got sick.

Sadly, two people died from being so sick.

The state of Michigan has the most people who got sick.

The two people who died already had serious health problems before they got sick.

Getting too dehydrated, which means the body loses too much water, may have made their sickness worse.

The CDC, a group of health experts, says the real number of sick people is probably higher than what has been reported.

It takes about six weeks for all sickness cases to be counted and reported.

So this outbreak might be even bigger than the numbers show.
