BRS MLA Highlights Assembly Rule Violations
A lawmaker from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party in Telangana, India, has written a letter to the Speaker of the state assembly.
He says there have been many problems in how the assembly has been running over the last two years.
The letter points out that the assembly has not been following its own rules, like not having enough working days, not answering questions from lawmakers on time, and not setting up important committees.
The biggest issue is that the Speaker has not made decisions on requests to remove some BRS lawmakers who are said to have joined the ruling Congress party.
The Supreme Court has even warned the Speaker about the delays.
The lawmaker wants the Speaker to fix these problems to make sure the assembly works fairly and follows the rules.
BRS MLA T. Harish Rao alleges serious procedural lapses in the Telangana Assembly over the past two years.
The letter highlights violations of assembly rules, including reduced working days and delayed responses to questions.
The Speaker's delay in ruling on disqualification petitions against BRS MLAs is a major point of contention.
The Supreme Court has warned the Speaker about the delays, threatening 'gross contempt'.
Rao requests immediate corrective actions, including more working days, timely replies, and constitution of house committees.
