Tamil Nadu Urged to Make Sustainability Core to Growth Strategy

Tamil Nadu’s Environment Minister said sustainability should be part of how the State grows.

He said protecting nature should happen alongside creating jobs and building industries.

The government has proposed spending ₹3,000 crore each year on climate-related work.

Tamil Nadu also wants half of its electricity to come from solar and wind power by 2030.

Officials said progress should be measured through results such as cleaner energy, reused water and fewer emissions.

Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited uses farm waste, wood from plantations and recycled paper.

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited uses treated sewage and wind power in its operations.

Speakers said governments, companies and communities must work together, including by separating household waste.
