China Bans US, Israeli Cybersecurity Software
China has told its companies to stop using cybersecurity software from the US and Israel.
They are worried that this software might send secret information to other countries.
The companies affected include VMware, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Check Point Software Technologies, and others.
China is trying to use more of its own technology instead of foreign technology, especially in areas like semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
They are also concerned that foreign equipment might be hacked by other countries.
Some of the affected companies say they don't do business in China or have very little presence there.
The Chinese government has not officially commented on this yet.
Chinese authorities have ordered domestic companies to stop using cybersecurity software from US and Israeli firms.
Affected companies include VMware, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Check Point Software Technologies, Mandiant, Wiz, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Recorded Future, McAfee, Claroty, Rapid7, CyberArk, Orca Security, Cato Networks, and Imperva.
The ban is due to concerns that the software could collect and transmit confidential information abroad.
China is aiming to replace Western technology with domestic alternatives amid a tech supremacy battle with the US.
Some affected companies claim they have no direct revenue exposure to China or have very little presence there.
