India's First Vande Bharat Freight Train Hits 145 km/h
India has started testing its first high‑speed freight train called the Vande Bharat Freight EMU.
The train can carry more than 397 tonnes of goods and has 16 cars, including special refrigerated cars for cold items.
It reached a speed of 145 km/h on its first day of testing in Rajasthan.
The train is being tested for a month to make sure it is safe and works well.
If it passes, it could help move packages and other goods faster across the country.
India's first Vande Bharat freight train began trial runs in Rajasthan's Kota Division, reaching a top speed of 145 km/h on day one.
The 16‑coach prototype, built by Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, can carry over 397 tonnes and includes parcel, refrigerated, and trailer cars.
Trials, conducted by RDSO on the Kota–Nagda–Sawai Madhopur corridor, will last about a month, testing speed, braking, traction, and safety systems.
The train aims to accelerate parcel, e‑commerce, and cold‑chain logistics across the Indian Railways network.
Each day will see at least two round‑trips, with both loaded and unloaded runs to assess performance under varied conditions.
