HC Dismisses PIL on Prayagraj Temple Construction

The Allahabad High Court has dismissed a public interest lawsuit (PIL) that asked the court to stop what the petitioner claimed was illegal construction for business purposes at the Ram Janki temple in Prayagraj.

The temple is about 200 years old and, according to property records, is owned by a private individual named Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh.

The court said it cannot get involved in disputes over private property.

The person who filed the PIL, Ghanshyam Prasad Kesarwani, was told he could take other legal steps if he wanted.

The court also mentioned that the petitioner did not prove the temple is government property.

Several government officials were named in the petition, but the court decided not to take any action against them.
