India, US Advance Bilateral Trade Pact During Goyal Visit

India and the United States are working on a new trade agreement.

India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal will visit the United States for talks.

He is expected to meet US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

The countries want to complete an interim deal before formally signing a larger agreement.

India wants its exporters to receive better tariff treatment than competitors.

The two sides must still design a system for giving each other special market access.

Goyal will also speak with American companies about trade and investment.

These talks will cover farmers, fishermen, startups, small businesses and other industries.
