Calcutta HC Rejects Central Probe on Messi Event Chaos
The Calcutta High Court decided not to let a central agency investigate the chaos that happened at a Lionel Messi event in Salt Lake Stadium.
The court said that the state police should handle the investigation.
They also asked the West Bengal government and event organizers to explain how they gave out special passes to people.
Some people who went to the event were upset because they couldn't take water bottles inside and because the event didn't go as planned.
The court also froze some money related to the event organizers.
Some people who filed complaints wanted a bigger investigation, but the court said no for now.
A singer who was there to perform said he had to run for his life because the crowd got out of control.
Calcutta High Court rejected a plea for a central agency probe into the Messi event chaos.
The court directed the West Bengal government and organizers to file affidavits within four weeks.
Questions were raised about the issuance of close proximity passes for the event.
The Union Home Ministry provided Z category security to Messi, handled by CRPF.
Petitioners alleged state involvement and sought refunds for ticket holders.
London-based singer Charles Antony recalled the chaos and described it as a harrowing experience.
Fans paid high prices for tickets and were disappointed as they could not see Messi properly.
