West Bengal Govt. Transfers Bureaucrats Amidst Electoral Roll Revision
The West Bengal government has moved over 500 officials around.
This happened around the time the Election Commission announced a review of voter lists.
The government says it's a normal process.
However, the opposition BJP believes this is an attempt to hinder the upcoming voter list review, where they hope to identify and remove 'fake' voters.
The TMC defends the move, calling it a regular administrative action.
The review of the electoral rolls starts on November 4 and is connected to the upcoming elections.
The West Bengal government transferred over 500 bureaucrats.
Transfers included 67 IAS and 460 WBCS officers.
Transfer notifications were dated October 24.
The BJP complained about the transfers to the Chief Election Commissioner.
The TMC called the transfers a routine measure.
