Wild Horse Nine Blends Male Bonding With Mortality
Wild Horse Nine is a movie about two CIA agents who meet in Chile.
They are sent on a mission connected to a coup against President Salvador Allende’s government.
Chris and Lee have worked in the field for a long time.
Chris is changing and feels bad even when he kills moths.
He has cancer that is expected to kill him, and dementia is affecting his thinking.
The movie uses a political mission to tell a story about friendship and getting older.
The review describes the film as subtle and praises John Malkovich’s performance.
Martin McDonagh’s film follows two longtime CIA agents, Chris and Lee, in Chile.
Their assignment is connected to the coup that brought down Salvador Allende’s government.
The story begins before the coup, as the agents meet and set off on their mission.
Chris is becoming less hardened, feeling guilt over killing even insects.
His cancer and dementia make mortality central to the film, which the review calls a subtle political thriller.
