Ex-manager booked for Rs 1 crore fraud in Thane

In the city of Thane, police say a man who used to run the office of a savings club stole a lot of people's money.

The man's name is Rajendra Gangaram Dasgude, and he worked at a co-operative credit society called Malshej Nagari Sahakari Pat-sanstha Maryadit.

A co-operative credit society is a savings group that encourages people to save and offers low-interest loans and banking services.

The police say he took about Rs 1 crore of the members' money over nine years, from 2017 to April 2026.

He is accused of making fake certificates and fake bank passbooks to fool people and keep their money.

He also reportedly copied people's signatures so he could take money from their accounts without permission.

When people paid back their loans, he is accused of taking the cash and not writing it down in the records.

A businessman in Thane complained to the police, and a case against him was registered on August 11.

The police are now looking for him and trying to get the stolen money back.

He is accused of cheating, breaking trust, and forgery, which are serious crimes involving tricking people to get their money.
