NFR and IIT Guwahati Launch Green Bed-Roll Bags
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is teaming up with IIT Guwahati to make trains more eco-friendly!
They're switching out plastic bags that hold your blankets and sheets with special bags that break down naturally.
These new bags are made of a material that won't stay in landfills.
Starting August 15, these bags will be used on many trains in several states.
This is part of NFR's bigger plan to be kinder to the planet, by using things like solar power and managing waste, making train travel better for the environment.
NFR and IIT Guwahati partnered to replace plastic bed-roll bags with biodegradable ones.
The initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability and reduce waste.
The biodegradable material was developed at IIT Guwahati.
Approximately 40,000 bags will be distributed on 25 trains.
The project launched on August 15 on trains in multiple states.
