Punjab CM Mann Seeks BBMB Overhaul Amid Water Dispute
The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, wants to change how the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) works, which manages water resources.
He believes the current system is unfair to Punjab, especially regarding water sharing with Haryana.
Mann plans to discuss this at a meeting and suggests building a new canal to get water from the Ganga and Yamuna rivers instead of the Satluj.
He also said that the Punjab government wants to get back the money that the BBMB owes them and will fill the vacant posts in BBMB.
His party celebrated the water release as 'Fateh Diwas'.
Punjab CM Mann called for the reconstitution of BBMB.
Mann stated he would raise the issue at the May 24 Niti Aayog meeting.
He criticized BBMB, calling it 'unacceptable in its present form'.
