Supreme Court Defers Ulhasnagar Civic Nomination Process, Sets September 28

Supreme Court Defers Ulhasnagar Civic Nomination Process, Sets September 28

Ulhasnagar has seven civic corporator positions that still need to be filled.

The process had been scheduled to continue on September 24.

The Supreme Court paused that schedule and gave the civic body until September 28 to finish it.

The earlier deadline had been September 25.

The request for more time came from Mayor Ashwini Nikam and two disqualified Shiv Sena corporators.

The two corporators were disqualified after their caste certificates were invalidated.

They are asking the Bombay High Court to consider their challenges.

The Supreme Court did not stop the nomination process until those cases are decided.

It said the court cases should continue while the civic process is completed.
