Tata Steel Sells Jamshedpur FC to Churchill Brothers for Rs 100

A big steel company in India called Tata Steel owned a football team called Jamshedpur FC.

The team played in India's top football league, the Indian Super League, or ISL.

Tata Steel has now given the team to another football club called Churchill Brothers from Goa.

The price was almost nothing — just one hundred rupees, less than the cost of a movie ticket.

Churchill Brothers will also take over the team's 12 players and two coaches so they can keep playing.

The sale happened partly because Jamshedpur FC did not pay its league fee on time.

That made it the first ISL team to shut down since the league began in 2014.

The deal still needs to be approved by Indian football's main organisation, the AIFF, and is expected to be finished by August 31.

Tata Steel says it will keep helping young footballers train in Jamshedpur.
