Velammal Vidyalaya Dominates CBSE South Zone Boys Chess
A chess tournament for boys from different schools was held in Hyderabad.
Velammal Vidyalaya schools from Chennai won the top prize in all three age groups: under 11, under 14, and under 19.
The event had 213 schools and 849 players.
It lasted four days and had six rounds of play.
After the games, officials gave out prizes at the closing ceremony.
Velammal Vidyalaya schools won all three age categories at the CBSE South Zone Boys Chess Championship.
The U‑11, U‑14, and U‑19 titles were taken by Velammal Vidyalaya (Mangadu, Nolambur, and Porur branches).

Bala Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School (Adyar) finished second in the U‑19 category.
National Chess Chairman K. S. Prasad and other officials presented prizes at the closing ceremony.
