GMC Launches Camp to Expedite Building Approvals

GMC Launches Camp to Expedite Building Approvals
GMC begins camp to fast-track building approvals, occupancy certificates by Dec 31 · assamtribune.com

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has started a special camp to quickly process pending building permissions and occupancy certificates.

The camp will run until the end of December.

Mayor Mrigen Sarania explained that many people think a planning permit from the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is the final approval, but it's not.

The GMC still needs to verify documents and give the final building permission.

The camp aims to clear the backlog of documents and speed up the process.

The GMC also wants to ensure that buildings follow approved plans to avoid penalties.

Additionally, the GMC is working to control mosquitoes by increasing fogging and larvae-control operations.

They have more spray machines to help with this.

The goal is to improve services and make sure everyone follows the rules for building and urban development.

“The planning permit is not the final go-ahead. GMDA issues the planning permit after collecting documents. Those documents are then forwarded to GMC, where we verify and provide the actual building permission.”
