Microsoft AI Chief Criticizes AGI Race Hype

Microsoft AI Chief Criticizes AGI Race Hype

Mustafa Suleyman, the head of Microsoft's AI division, recently spoke out against the idea that companies are racing to create Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

He said that calling it a race is misleading because there are no winners or losers in science.

Instead of focusing on being the first to achieve AGI, Microsoft is working on building AI that helps people, not acts on its own.

Suleyman also emphasized that safety is a top priority and Microsoft would stop developing any AI that could become uncontrollable.

He mentioned that staying competitive in AI will cost a lot of money, but Microsoft is well-prepared.

Additionally, Microsoft is making its AI tools, like Microsoft 365 Copilot Business, available to smaller businesses to help them with everyday tasks.
