CJP Turns Up Heat on Bengal BJP Government

CJP Turns Up Heat on Bengal BJP Government

The Cockroach Janta Party, or CJP, is a group campaigning to improve schools.

One of its volunteers, Abdul Hafiz, filmed a run-down school in his village in West Bengal.

Soon afterward, his family was allegedly attacked.

His father, Sheikh Mohammad Mafiq, later died in hospital.

The CJP says the attack and his death need a full investigation.

Police say Mafiq had only a minor injury from the attack and died after serious blood-pressure problems.

Police have arrested eight people and are looking for two others.

The CJP wants a proper school built in Mafiq’s name and has threatened protests if officials do not respond within 10 days.

The group also says some Kolkata venues refused to host its meetings because of political pressure, but this allegation has not been independently confirmed.
