Retired railway consultant says life after work has kept him busy

Rick Evans retired at 70 in 2022 after a long career in the railway industry and railway consulting.

He lives in West Kelowna, British Columbia, and says he worried retirement might be boring.

Instead, home projects and car interests fill his time, including maintaining a pool and a collectible 2011 Tesla Roadster Sport.

Evans and his wife also travel, play golf, walk and sometimes snowshoe.

They manage their own investments and spend less on commuting, work clothes and restaurant meals, but he says inflation can affect retirement costs.

Evans says he might have retired five years earlier, but advises others to plan for inflation and stay physically active.
