Marshall Faulk says he has Parkinson’s disease

Marshall Faulk has revealed he has Parkinson’s disease, a condition he says he has been managing for 18 months.

The 53-year-old shared the news on a podcast.

Faulk played in the NFL for more than a decade, won a Super Bowl and an MVP award, and is now head coach at Southern University in Louisiana.

Parkinson’s affects movement and worsens over time, though its effects can differ from person to person.

Faulk said he first noticed an issue with his hand while playing golf and then spoke to his doctor.

His disease was diagnosed early, and he is receiving treatment; he said his hand stiffness and tremors have not worsened.

He is monitoring his walking and balance, and said he will discuss his diagnosis with family and friends if his lifestyle changes.
