TVE meteorologist Ana de Roque to retire after more than 30 years

TVE has announced Ana de Roque’s upcoming retirement after more than 30 years presenting weather forecasts for the Spanish public broadcaster.

The news came during a special edition of its Telediario news programme in Robledillo de la Jara, near Madrid, marking TVE’s 70th anniversary.

De Roque presented the forecast with paper maps, echoing how weather was shown in the broadcaster’s early years.

Alejandra Herranz announced the retirement and invited the audience to applaud her colleague, who became emotional.

De Roque joined TVE’s weather team in 1990 and later worked across several Telediario editions, regional broadcasts and Canal 24 Horas.

Her retirement closes a decades-long career in weather reporting, a familiar part of television for many viewers.

Herranz said it was one of De Roque’s last broadcasts, but no retirement date was given.

As this is a Telediario of emotions, I’m going to ask for a round of applause for Ana, because after more than thirty years she has earned a well-deserved retirement. This is one of her last Telediarios, so thank you, Ana, for everything.
