Prabowo Sets Up Council to Focus on Indonesians’ Financial Well-Being
President Prabowo Subianto established Indonesia’s National Financial Well-Being Council on Thursday, October 22.
The council is intended to build on the work of the National Council for Financial Inclusion, which focused more on getting people access to financial services, including bank accounts.
The new council aims to make financial services improve household finances, not just expand access to them.
The change comes amid a gap between 92.7% financial inclusion and 66.4% financial literacy in figures shared by the government in November 2025.
The council’s priorities include financial education, better coordination among government agencies and affordable financing for small businesses.
Prabowo chairs the council, with Coordinating Economy Minister Airlangga Hartarto as its daily chair; it was established under Government Regulation No.
