Lotte Department Store to Open First Fandom Space in Busan

Lotte Department Store to Open First Fandom Space in Busan

Lotte Department Store will open its first dedicated fandom space on October 30 at its Busan Main Store in South Korea.

The 1,785-square-metre space will bring together anime, games and character merchandise that has been sold in separate places.

It will include shops such as Animate, Bandai’s Gashapon Official Shop, and stores for Rilakkuma and hobby figures.

The company chose Busan as sales to customers in their 20s and 30s rose about 15% from January to September compared with the same period last year.

The city also draws visitors to events including the Busan International Film Festival and gaming expos, while foreign tourist arrivals rose 45.9% through August year on year.

Lotte plans to use the Busan store as a model and expand the concept to major locations nationwide.
